Merry Christmas 2022

This is a picture looking straight at the front of the Overlook.  It was taken December 2022.  On the right you can see lights above the yard and the Outdoor Bar.  Behind the cabin is nothing but forest.  In fact, the property backs up to the Rocky Mountain National Park.
Picture
This photo was taken the same time as the previous photo.  It shows the front of the cabin from a different perspective.  The Overlook was one of the original homesteads in Estes Park. It is perched on Eagle Cliff Mountain overlooking the valley.

Here is a different view of the home, yard, Outdoor Bar and Gazebo which can barely be seen behind the Outdoor Bar.

Here is another photo of the cabin.  It shows the "Love Locks" built into the front wall, the flag pole, and the grassed yard.  You wont see any homes behind the Overlook.  You will only find forest.

Here is the view from the front porch.  The mountain on the right side is Prospect Mountain.  This is where the Estes Park Tram runs.  You can watch the tram from the front porch, yard, or even the Hot Tub.

Picture
Another perspective on the front view.  The road that approaches the Overlook is private.  It dead ends just past the Overlook.  This last few hundred feet of road is slightly steep and can be slippery in winter.  This is why we recommend all wheel or four wheel drive in winter.

Picture
The master bedroom has a sitting area, bookshelf full of books and games, and a walk in closet.  It also has doors that open to a private patio directly off the bedroom.

This is the view out the back door of the Overlook.

This custom Gazebo has a hot tub inside as well as a fireplace.  It is private and secluded.

In the winter, the Outdoor Bar magically transforms into Santa's Workshop.  If you are lucky, you might spot Santa instructing his Elves.

Owning a vacation home can be an adventure.  We have been renting and restoring the Overlook for 8 years.  During this time, we have met some amazing people.  We feel truly blessed to own the Overlook and enjoy the labor of returning this historic property to its original significance.  This is an ongoing project with no end in sight.

Many vacation rentals are owned by large property companies and managed by an organization.  They are most frequently cleaned and maintained by additional outside organizations.  This process might seem efficient.  However, when managed in this manner, the property can lack timely maintenance and response to issues can be longer than desired.

When we purchased the property and committed to restoring it to its former glory, my wife and I agreed to do 100% of the work ourselves.  We own the property.  We provide 100% of the construction and maintenance.  We are the only people who have ever or ever will clean the property.  Also, one of our personal homes is directly next door.  This allows us to know what needs to be done, provide timely repairs, and respond promptly to any issues.  We tend to travel frequently and own additional properties around the country.  When we take our trips, we block out the time on the calendar so that no one will book while we are traveling.  We feel this is the best approach to have and maintain a 5-star vacation rental.  We hope you agree.  Below is a picture of our cabin in Moab, Utah and our home in Loveland, Colorado.

Love Locks ... with a twist

Familiar with Love Locks?  They started in Europe and have expanded worldwide.  Basically, you bring a lock and key to your favorite spot.  Typically, Love Locks are on bridges.  In this situation, you attach your lock to the railing of the bridge and throw the key in the water below.  This signifies your unbreakable love.

However, since our cabin is named after the Stephen King novel the Shining, we have taken a slightly different approach.  Our Love Locks include handcuffs.  Yes, you read this right.  When love isn't enough ... perhaps handcuffs will keep your love forever.  Ha Ha.  We found a bank vault gate which is over 150 years old from Dead Wood South Dakota and installed in on the front block wall on the road in front of the Overlook.

To show your undying love, be sure to bring your own lock, or handcuffs, and attach them to our deadwood bank vault gate.  Below are a few pictures for inspiration.
